FLC's 29th Annual Boat Show July 27-29, 2007

Be a Part of Boat Show Weekend in Skaneateles! Here's a rundown of some of the activities that will make up a weekend of fun and festivities made possible through the generosity of our sponsors whose logos appear on the front page of this newsletter. Our thanks to them all!

Exhibitors from several states will have a variety of different boats entered in the Boat Show, many of them never having been seen in Skaneateles before. Boats will include sailboats runabouts, outboards, etc. ~~

Live music in Clift Park will be part of the weekend's festivities: -- By the Skaneateles Village Band at 7:30 pm on Friday. -- By Bone & Doolittle at 12:00 noon on Saturday. -- By the Soda Ash Six at 12:00 noon on Sunday. ~~

The MG Car Club of Central New York has been invited to put several of their members' cars on display in Clift Park on Saturday of Boat Show Weekend. ~~ Members of the newly-formed Sea Scouts Ship 23 have been invited to participate in the Boat Show throughout the weekend. If you hear a bosun's whistle as an exhibitor's boat approaches it's dock, look for a Sea Scout doing his/her duty! ~~

Both Onondaga County Sheriff's and Skaneateles Fire Department's boats are scheduled to lead the antique boat parade on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

Historic village tours are set for Saturday and Sunday (11:00 am & 12:30 pm each day). Each tour will be about one hour long and cost will be $10.00 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Skaneateles Historical Society. Tours will depart from Clift Park and end at the Creamery, the headquarters of the Skaneateles Historical Society. Refreshments will be available at the Creamery following each tour. ~~

A woodie car or two may be parked among the lawn displays. ~~ Something for the younger set will be available on Saturday while parents take in the boats and displays. ~~

Shoreline cruises of Skaneateles Lake are scheduled for Sunday at 10:00 am and 12:00 noon. Fifty copies of the Chapter's shoreline cruise booklet have been specially prepared for this event.

~~ And good food ranging from the best fish fry in the northeast to fine dining at any number of area restaurants can round out your visit. ~~ Hope to see you at the Boat Show!

How About a Boat Ride?

If you don't have a boat ready for this summer's FLC Boat Show, but are willing to:

1. Venture to Skaneateles any time over the weekend of July 27-29 (Boat Show Weekend),

2. Stop at the tent in Clift Park,

3. Talk to any one of the handsome gals handling registration, and

4. Sign up for a boat ride!

We'll see to it that you and your party get at least one ride in an old boat while you're there! No charge; no obligation! Just a good time with friends and fellow chapter members who are enjoying some quality time on the water! What a deal! And if the above strikes your fancy, why not go the next step and send in your reservations for one or more of the meals outlined in your copy of the FLC Boat Show Invitation? We'd be delighted to have you stick around to dine with us and enjoy some of the weekend's other activities. Or having gone that far, consider staying overnight or coming back for the next day's activities, meeting old and new friends, talking about old boats and boat restorations,…and another boat ride! And all of the above in a lakeside setting that can't be beat. If it's Sunday and the weather cooperates, we plan to run shoreline cruises of the lake with a brochure onboard each boat highlighting points of interest along the way. What more could you ask for? We'll be looking for you and we'll be ready to show you a pretty good time! Jack Miller, 2007 FLC Boat Show Co-chair

Alert!

Because parking at the state launch ramp is limited, only vehicles with an attached empty trailer may be left there during Boat Show Weekend. "Un-trailered" vehicles will risk being ticketed.
